This iPod interface kit uses a proprietary 30-pin Apple iPod connector to provide a direction connection from an iPod to the vehicle head unit, allowing the driver to control the iPod using either the steering pad or audio system controls. It provides a direct connection from your iPod to the vehicle's audio head unit (radio). This kit uses the proprietary 30-pin Apple iPod connector for seamless compatibility and the glove compartment connection point keeps your valuable iPod well concealed within vehicle to help prevent theft. The connection point in your glove compartment serves as interface to your audio system, and also serves as a charger for the iPod, when connected. The interactive design allows you to connect, control and charge your iPod and display text on your audio system displaying Artist, Song Title and Playlist searches, along with Shuffle and Shuffle All functions. This innovative upgrade allows you to keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, rather than searching for and selecting music on your iPod itself. In addition, the direct connection to your vehicle audio system provides enhanced sound quality in comparison to RF modulators, transmitters and cassette adapters and is compatible with: iPod Mini, iPod 4th Generation, iPod 4th Generation (color display), iPod Nano 1st Generation, iPod 5th Generation (video), iPod Nano 2nd Generation (aluminum), iPod Classic, iPod Nano 3rd Generation (video) and iPod Touch. Please note; this interface requires your audio head unit to be satellite ready. Some premium audio units have embedded XM and conflict with the iPOD Interface kit. The 2009 Corolla and 2009 Matrix with Premium Audio (JBL) has embedded XM and conflicts with the iPOD Interface. Some base grade audio are not satellite ready. Either iPOD or Sat Radio can be installed, not both. If the iPOD Interface kit is connected, then the AUX input jack should be used with the iPOD player.
