How to install door edge trim?

Installation is very easy. Our “L" style car door guard is so named because if you look at the cut end of a molding strip, it resembles the “L" shape. On the underside of the 3M door edge guard there is a pre-applied strip of 3M brand double sided tape. You simply measure off the length you need, peel off the protective backing and stick it to any clean surface. That's it! Easy as can be.
If you are looking at our “J" style door edge trim, it is similar to the “L" style except that it resembles the letter “j" (or maybe more like a candy cane). It also includes either the pre-applied adhesive backing tape or a pre-applied bead of adhesive glue. The tape style is applied by placing the door ding protector molding over the lip or edge of the door and then pulling the red protective strip out from behind the molding allowing the sticky part of the adhesive tape to make contact with the back side of the door edge. The adhesive bead style is simply pressed on over the edge until the adhesive bead makes contact with the door edge, then pressed on firmly.
Finally we come to the “U" style car door protector. This is arguably the easiest car door guard molding to install. The “U" style molding comes with a pre-applied bead of adhesive glue inside the molding (at the base of the “U").
